Care & laying

Caring for it

Porcelain has very low water absorption, so the tile itself generally doesn't need sealing. Clean with a pH-neutral cleaner and a soft mop; avoid acids, bleach-based products and abrasive pads, which can dull the surface or affect grip. Sealing the grout helps in showers and kitchens.

Laying tips

  • Start with a flat floor. Large tiles show every hump — level the substrate first.
  • Get full coverage. Back-butter tiles as well as trowelling the floor, especially in wet and outdoor areas.
  • Keep offsets to one-third on long tiles to reduce lippage.
  • Blend from several boxes so tone and veining mix evenly.

Mosaic sheets: use a notched trowel suited to small chips, and press sheets in with a float so the chips sit flat.

General guidance only. Follow AS 3958.1, the maker's instructions and your tiler's advice.
