Good to know before you buy

What do slip ratings (P1–P5) mean?

Slip resistance in Australia is tested to AS 4586 and shown as P0 (least) to P5 (most). As a general guide, P3 is common on residential bathroom and laundry floors and P4–P5 outdoors and around pools. Your builder or certifier can confirm what your project needs. Read the slip rating guide.

Porcelain or ceramic — what's the difference?

Porcelain is denser and absorbs less water, so it suits floors, wet areas and (where rated) outdoors. Ceramic is lighter and easier to cut, and is mostly used on walls. Each tile's spec lists what it's suitable for.

How many extra tiles should I order?

Allow about 10% extra for a straight lay and 15% for diagonal or herringbone patterns, to cover cuts and breakages. Order everything at once so it all comes from the same batch. Each product page has a calculator that rounds up to full boxes or sheets. How many tiles do I need?

Matt, gloss, lappato or grip — which finish?

Matt is the everyday all-rounder for floors and walls. Gloss reflects light and suits walls and splashbacks. Lappato and honed sit in between with a soft sheen. Grip and external finishes add texture for wet and outdoor floors.

Should I go large format?

Large tiles (600 × 1200 mm and up) mean fewer grout lines and a calmer look, especially in open-plan rooms. They need a flat floor, so ask your tiler about levelling first. Large format guide.

Can I see a tile before I buy?

Yes. Add a sample from any product page or results card, or book a visit to our warehouse in Holroyd, Western Sydney.
